A plant-based diet, which emphasizes fruits and vegetables, beans and legumes, and nuts, is high in fiber, vitamins and other phytonutrients. Studies show people who eat plant-based foods generally eat fewer calories and less fat, have fewer weight issues, and have a lower risk of heart disease and diabetes.

Is Protein Bad?  No.   Do We Need Protein? Yes.

Just eating LESS (processed, red, pro-inflammatory) meat has a protective effect. A new study from Harvard School of Public Health researchers has found that red meat consumption is associated with an increased risk of total, cardiovascular, and cancer mortality. The results also showed that substituting other healthy protein sources, such as fish, poultry, nuts, and legumes, was associated with a lower risk of mortality.

Bad Protein: Sausage, lunch meats, processed meats

Good Protein: Organic poultry, lean beef, beans, legumes, eggs, fish
